Oil
paintings
From 2002 to the present, I have enjoyed painting in oils. The
paintings are playful explorations of color and light- figurative
and abstract, sacred and secular, inspired by scene, story, and
pattern, as well as by inner vision.

This
is a wonderful painting. Even if they aren't a-tango . . I
figure the sun is shining, but the chair is dancing in secret.

What
I particularly like about your Annunciation is that
it is so focused on Mary's inner life. At Christmas we sang — several
times — an anthem about 'the angel Gabriel to Mary came,
his wings like drifted snow, his eyes as flame'. But the real,
important things are happening in Mary's heart and the angel
image can get in the way. I like your Mary, listening carefully
to something inward.

The
Father's Embrace is especially moving. I so envy your
ability to have made the shift from the exacting work
you were doing before to these joyous paintings.
